Happy Monday and hello to August. The summer F L E W for me, how about you?

Today is  H{ippity} Hop day! You’ll see all sorts of great projects using Ippity Stamps, including one here from me. I kept it pretty black and white today (pun intended :) ) with just a touch of pretty green. I had to have some sparkle in there, so I worked more with some embossing powder that has glitter in it.

The black that I used to emboss the leaves is my absolute favorite from P K Glitz. It’s called E P Max Black because it’s a wonderful solid black with sparkle included. So pretty indeed!

I’ve been working with metal lately and surprise, surprise, have more to share with you.

This card uses a double emboss technique where you emboss the metal with a Cuttlebug, Sizzix or other type of embossing folder first. Since the metal is silver with one side painted, emboss so that the raised side is the colored side. After embossing, rub the design with a sanding block. It really makes the image POP out!

Next, run the same piece of metal through BUT with a DIFFERENT design folder this time. I chose the herringbone texture for a high contrast. Sand that design a little too. Now you have a double embossed design element! Pair it with a beautiful sentiment from “The Simple Things” set and you’ve got a winning card.

Hello Ippity and Unity Friends!

Welcome to this week’s Friends with Flair, I’m glad to be here with you!

For a main list of all the participating blogs today, go to the Unity Blog for all the awesome links!

My card for this week didn’t start out as a holiday card, but I guess it could be one once you take a look at it. I just love that little angel from the May 2010 KOTM! She’s so cute and perfect for the card.

I used some embossed metal from TENseconds Studio on the card also. The embossed design is from one of their molds run through the Big Shot Express. I will be using metal more on my cards – such a great effect and wonderful beauty!

I used a new set this week, Regal Greetings. I LOVE IT!! So pretty and I can’t wait to play with it more! I’ve seen the wonderful cards from other bloggers and have been itching to make a card with that set. I thought BasicGrey’s Scarlet Letter was the perfect backdrop, coupled with red ink. Elegant is the word that comes to mind!
